Pain-Free Dentistry
Deep Relaxation Through Intravenous Sedation
During IV sedation, sleep dental drugs are delivered into your bloodstream, placing you into a deep state of relaxation, making it possible for you to have the treatment you need without feeling any pain or anxiety.
Dr Michael Walker is a Dental Board Approved Sedation Practitioner and Australia's foremost authority on IV sedation—he is the external examiner for the Intravenous Sedation course at the University of Sydney, meaning he examines and certifies other dentists in these critical techniques. His extensive expertise and daily practice in IV sedation ensure you receive the highest standard of care from someone who literally sets the standard for the profession.
IV sedation allows us to complete more complex treatment in fewer appointments, and many patients find they have no memory of the procedure at all.
Benefits
We'll discuss your medical history, anxiety concerns, and treatment needs. You'll be positioned comfortably and a small cannula is placed in your arm—the only needle you'll feel.
The sedative is administered through the IV line. You'll gradually drift into a relaxed state while Dr Walker and our team complete your dental work. You won't feel pain or remember the procedure.
After treatment, the sedative is stopped and you're allowed to wake gradually. A responsible adult must collect you. Rest at home for the remainder of the day and avoid driving for 24 hours.
Our Expertise
MPW Dentistry is a certified Dental Board Approved Sedation Practice. Dr Walker's credentials include being the external examiner for the Intravenous Sedation course at the University of Sydney, where he has been a lecturer since 1994.
We offer IV sedation on a daily basis—not monthly like many practices. This means you have flexibility in scheduling and don't have to wait months for your appointment. All sedation is administered personally by Dr Walker in our modern Waterloo clinic with support from our Senior Registered Nurses trained in anaesthesia and intensive care.
